I have an older Buck 110 with squared off bolsters. I like the look and feel of rounded bolsters. Has anyone customized theirs? If so can you post a picture of the end result and any recommendations on how to do it?

Just use it a lot, and they will round themselves over a period of ten to twenty years, as they wear out 4 or 5 sheaths. It will happen so slowly that you won't even notice, till you happen to compare it to an unused old knife.

Seriously though. I'm under the impression that Buck will do it for you, if you send the knife in for a spa service, and request it. I would call them and verify before sending it in, just to be sure. Or just take a file to it.

Personally I think a intentionally rounded, square framed Buck, is an abomination. But it is your knife do as you like.

O.B.

The Buck 110 handle has always been abhorrent to me.
It's far too thick, squared off, heavy, and ugly. You can't hurt one by modifying it-just be careful of the center, backspring pin.

Thankyou for both replies. The 110 is not my EDC. I have an assortment of smaller Case, Buck and Kershaw knives for that. I'm not particularly fond of my 110 like I am the others and I'm not afraid to take a chance with an attempt to modify it. The center back spring pin is something that must be considered. Thanks again fellas.

I did it to a 110 that i found at a garage sale. Much nicer to use now. The tip of the blade was damaged so I re shaped the blade into a drop point too.

Go for it.

When I got my first Buck, I noticed my Dad’s was. Thinner smoother and more rounded. When I asked him about it, he gave me a file. “It’s yours, make it yours”.

Years later I realized his was originally one of the early very squared versions.

Buy a more recent rounded version? They're not making any more of the old square ones…

I thought about picking up an older 110 at a flea market or garage sale, that is junk so that I could experiment to see if I can modify it. The one I have has zero sentimental value. It was produced between 1974 and 1980. I don't know what it is worth today to a collector.

You did a nice job of reprofiling the scales.I notice what appears to be finger notches or grooves. I like it. Thanks.
That is actually a factory finger groove. But they seem to be worn a little. That knife saw a lot of hard use.

My favorite modified 110 I added a single finger groove. Jimping on the spine and lock button This is the eveled 110 Lol 😂
