This knife was made a couple years ago and is one of less than 2 handfull of fixed blades Roy has made in the past 10 years as he is now known almost exclusively as a folder maker.

The obverse side

The knife is done with Roy's own damascus 1095/L6 and this image shows the reverse side

and now for a close up showing the N/S bolsters with an overlay of 3 bar composite (copper, brass and n/s) mokume by Devon Thomas. The pins are n/s and the butt is brass. The handle is Merlo sheephorn with Mastadon Ivory spacer and butt with nice filework on the spine.

This is a hidden tang knife with a difference. The tang is a full tang up to the mokume spacer next to the mastadon spacer.

Wow - I can't recall another knife with more going on from the bolster on back. Love that sheephorn - one of my favorite handle materials. Great pics as always.

Cheers,

Roger

That is some piece of work. I have one of Roy's folders.., and in honesty I've never even seen a fixed blade he made. This is certainly a good one to start with :)....gorgeous knife!

This is an exceptional knife. I do not usually like Mokume on a knife, but it works well on this one. All of these materials go together perfectly and I like the lines very much.

Murray,

The knife is sooooo different, and that makes it great! Thanks for the super pics.

What I'm equally impressed with is your finally getting your own server to post these. Hooray!!!

thanks guys. glad you like the knife. I was most impressed with it when I saw it and just had to make the right deal at BAKCA. Like Roger, I was impress with all that is going on from ricasso back as well as a real nice piece of damascus by the maker.

Coop-I got some help in how to put pix on my isp web space and will use that for quite a few things. I have moved all my collection to a hosting site but I can't link to it but it is free and makes no limits on size or # of images.

For EBay, I have another site that will host for 3 months and I now know how to do the links for it which was my problem before--not doing it right. Duh??

sorry we lost the images. I have since learned that there can't be any spaces in the path for everything to stay put in the forums. It is taking some time but I'm slowly learning this stuff.
