royal blue from peter's heat treating

i just received a couple of pieces of 1095 back from peter's heat treating,
which vaguely resemble knife blades if you use your imagination. anyway,
the finish is very similar to blueing on a firearm. the question is-has any of
you left this finish as is or will it quickly wear off? i think it's an interesting
patina.

I've had a couple of pieces come out of the oven with some blue or orange patina on them. One, oddly enough, was a pendant, and it's holding up OK. On pocket tools, it wears off kind of quickly. I don't think it would be all that durable on a knife.

It's just oxidation from the heat. It will wear off quickly.
