Royal Canadian Air Force watch is it worth it?

I wouldn't know without movement pics sorry. *whistle* the price on that thing is sky high for a watch nobody seems to know about :)

Not original hands. The bezel/faceplate and crystal look to be in far better condition than the bottom of the watch case. -How could that happen unless they have been polished or replaced?

No idea as to value, but I wouldn't buy it for those reasons.

I did a search and I think this is what the watch should look like:

Dont know how legit this is but you may find this interesting: Guide To Military Timepiece Markings

I also found a thread on a watch forum with these exact pictures of the exact same watch. Apparently it closed with 0 bids with an initial starting bid of 1100.0 USD : Images from past auctions

You guys are right, I could see me paying this for a mint with all original parts. The dials on the face are luminous so its not from 1942 and it has been refurbished no less than twice. I just couldn't justify the cost. I'm just upset, I missed out on one of these at a police auction. It was all original and mint and it went for $500.:(

We all have to try not to get too excited when wanting something and end up throwing our money down a hole. You really want the police auction watch, not this Franken-timepiece.

You should really just wait (and wait) until another better watch comes along. It will.

hello
thanks for trashing my watch i was trying to sell. yes the dial has been redone!!! if any of you did a little research you would see it is correct. i admit the hands are not and i stated that. the watch was sent for a overhaul to RCAF shop here in Canada by the original owner as i posted and stated for this sale. original tag for the repair i posted states a "overhaul" repairable. The watch a Waltham 16 Jewel Manual Wind was made in the U.S.A. and came in all sorts of dials and hands for U.S.A. and Canadian military. What the overhaul by the R.C.A.F. did and parts available after the war i don't know. they cleaned it up nicelly for this aviator. sorry it is not all rusted out. so if i change the hands from work done by the R.C.A.F. dose it make it real again. i don't think so!

Blah, Blah....it looks like you deserved the trashing that you got, and now you are whining about it.

Enjoy BladeForums, and WELCOME!

That, I'm sorry to have to inform you, is the chance you take when you put something on the Internet. It is just a fact of online life. If you can't take the heat, then maybe the kitchen isn't the best place for you.

Was anything said that wasn't true? No. So you have nothing to complain about.

In your eBay listing, you describe the watch as "Near new!!" Hardly.

As I see it, the astute watch enthusiasts here saved a fellow member from an over-priced and over-represented purchase. If you don't like that, then bladeforums just isn't the sort of forum you should be on nor the sort of community you should be a member of.

To the OP,

Look at Khaki line by Hamilton for similarly styled watches with a piece of mind that you're buying authentic manufacture with warranty.
