Wondering if any of the RP's could recommend some gloves to me. I'm
looking for a balance between protection (elements and clumsyness) and dexterity, pref nothing too tactical but with cover pass my wrists

any advice appreciated

most tactical gloves, quite frankly, suck. I Spent 60 dollars on a pair of hatches that didn't last as long as a 2 dollar pair of rawhide stanley work gloves. I'd look at insulated work gloves like firmgrip, handyman blizzards and mechanix. TNF has some nice work gloves out now too but they cost 55 dollars.

I've found that trying on gloves is very important. I've had good luck with the local farm supply store and the local ski shop. My favorite around town glove is the Marmot Windstopper. For harder use I have a few different pairs from the farm supply and a pair of Burton gloves that I don't know the model.

I really like Ironclad Cold Condition Gloves...have had a pair for 3 years now and still work fine without to much wear. Since then have got 2 more pairs as backups, I also got a free hat that is included with the gloves.

I tried a pair of Ironclads when I was doing carpentry and they only lasted about a month.

I like my cold condition gloves for light duty stuff or when I'm not going to be out in really low temps for long.
my 1989 military gor-tex gloves, OTOH, are great!
Duluth Trading has some decent winter work gloves, but you're going to pay a premium on them unless they have some on the clearance section.

5.11 makes some great gloves. they are tactical but great fit for manual dexterity and good quality...

If it's cold enough to need warm gloves I don't mess around anymore. I wear the warmest most waterproof I have. Grandoe Freeride.

Even if my hands are cold and wet, they warm up very fast when I put them on. Love them!

But for woods chores when it's not really cold or wet, I use Mechanix M-Pact in coyote brown. They rock.

Go to the nearest Tractor Supply and look there, if there is one near you. They have plenty of gloves to choose from.
