Anyone tried the A.G. Russel Hocho folding Chef's Knife?

It looks cool for camping, picnics or simply just to have because it's a cool concept.

I have a buddy who's a restaurant manager and it might make a good gift for him sometime.

I know A.G. Russell makes good stuff but I was hoping to get an opinion or two from some people who've bought one.

I bought my dad one for Christmas a few years ago for his camper. He loves it and it never gets out of his kitchen. He's an old time butcher, so it was kind of a far out knife for him, but that's the first thing he grabs now.

But he did say the lock has failed on him a few times, not sure what he was doing when it happened. Holds a wicked edge.

I've had mine for a couple of years and I absolutely love it...when cooking out, picnicing, etc....it fits the bill quite nicely...:)

If you do a search, you will find at least a thread or two from a year or two back, including detailed comments by myself.

Bottom line - good slicer. I think it is still a bit short, I would prefer it to be longer. Most of all, the grip is very uncomfortable for any extended use. The addition of some overlay material of any kind would go a long way toward solving that problem. If you the time and equipment, you could add your own grips and much improve the very spartan handle design.
