I know these just came out, but I'm just wondering if any of you that already have them care to share any thoughts. I've been wanting one ever since I first heard of them over a year ago. To hold me over until they became available, I picked up a Buck Strider Solution fixed blade. It is one awesome blade! So much so, I just may forego getting that Al Mar altogether (since they would both fill the "backpacking knife" role I had intended to purchase them for).

However, the SERE OPerator is such a nice looking piece, I just may pick it up anyway!

Any insights on this knife would be appreciated.

I own one of the early production SERE 6. Fixed blade SEREs came in a model 5, 6, and 7. Nice knife, with very fine quality for a production piece. The SERE 6 is my favorite production knife in my collection. I really like the blade style and noticed that the CUDA CQB is a close copy.

I am also interested in how the the new SERE fixed blade compare. Been waiting to see one show up at a gun show. Right now the specs seem similiar to a SERE 5. Overall, the knife appears to have the same lines as the originals- just cost saving materials and construction. My guess is that the satin finish and zytel handle will make it a great user knife.

The Operator is an excellent knife for the money.I guess that cost was
one of the considerations from switching from VG10 to ATS34.As far as
the rest goes the lines, gring and finish are the SERE quality that
you are used to.For a medium sized fixed blade it is a good buy.The
lowest price I have seen is $100, the highest$148.My feeling is that most people will have it around$125.00.

I am curious about prylon. How do people feel about it? Does it make good handle and sheath material?
