Considering a Mini Point Guard from Crawford knives. Any opinions on this model and Crawford Knives in general?

Paul

Paul,

I have a regular size Point Guard and I love it! It fits my hand very well. It is very light in the pocket. The blade has a very useful profile.

As to Crawford Custom Knives- I have 10 of them and every one of them is first rate in fit and finish and are at the top of all my customs in smoothness in opening. I really like the way that he lowers the liner lock to make it nearly impossible to accidently unlock the knife.

I have never been disappointed with a Crawford, so I have not ever had to send one back for repairs, but I have heard through a few posts that Pat and Wes are great in backing up their work.

If you like the way it looks and feels- buy the knife. I do not think that you will be disappointed.

I can't speak to the mini Point Guard, but as to the quality of Crawford knives, they are first rate. Pat stands behind everything he makes. I currently have two, both top notch. You won't regret a Crawford.

got a kasper ti fighter and just sent it in for a rebuild and pat is great to work with, a man who stands behind his product imho, no not imho, that is FACT

The point guard is one of Pat's most popular models and is a very good design for general utility. Personally, I always prefered a thumb stud (like on his Combat Shark) to the thumb wheel on the Point Guard. The mini is a bit on the small side for me though - you may wanna handle both sizes before committing. I find his standard point guard to be just about perfect in terms of size for daily carry.

I have owned Crawford fixed blades, so I can't comment on their folders other than the ones I've fondled at knife shows. (nice)

Their customer service, on the other hand, is first rate. Some of the nicest people in the knife world, IMHO.

As for the point guard, I have been seriously eyeing this one at Bladeart.com:

SWEET! :D

Paul I did a review about a year ago..unfortunately mine is for sale now....search under my name to find the glowing review

I've been eyeing one of these (full sized) for at least a year. I've handled it at the last few shows I have attended. It seems to have a good balance of sport/utility/tactical. If I keep reading threads like this, I might get pushed "over the edge".

I have the pleasure of having met Mr. Pat and Wes Crawford at several NYC knife shows recently. Gentlemen first and foremost. They produce first rate knives that are unequaled in my humble opinion. I have the pleasure of owning two of their knives; one is a Kasper/Crawford neck knife, the other is a Mini-Kasper/Crawford folder that is absolutely flawless and beautiful. I have viewed and handled their Point Guards, and have found them to be great knives. Money well spent. Pat and Wes keep in touch with their customers as well. They ask about how your purchase is treating you and offer to improve anything you dislike. You will be hard pressed to find a flaw on anything they produce. So the question is which Point Guard to be added to your collection,no?
