Does anyone have any experience with the Queen Cutlery D2-bladed slipjoints? Their "serpentine jack" and "swell center whittler" patterns look like nice unoffensive EDC's...

Any idea how well the D2 is heat treated? What kind of fit and finish can I expect? Do they "walk and talk"?

Any comments are welcome.

Thanks.

Jon

Use the "search" button and search for "Queen" in the "title only" in the "Traditional Folder and Fixed Blade" forum. There has been a lot of discussion there.

Jeff,

Thanks - it's been a pretty long time since I last visted BladeForums. I didn't even know there was a Traditional Folder and Fixed Blade but I'll definitely check it out.

Thanks again.

Welcome to THE forums. I have two Queen Stockmans, one in cocobolo and the other their stag-bone. I was initially disappointed with them because they came less than "scary-sharp". Until I got a DMT stone and was able to put a pretty good edge on them, I was less than 100% Ga-ga. Now that I can sharpen effectively, I love them. I got the cocobolo in my pocket right now. I like the fit and finish, and the walk n' talk is impressive. I would whole-heartedly recommend the Queen D2's as long as you get a diamond sharpener. The D2 seems to take a long time to sharpen on ceramic or Norton stones.
good luck on your purchases,

Mongo

Thanks Mongo, I actually used to post all the time under the user name "Ghecko". That was a few years ago and since then I've changed email addresses and forgot my password:(. Hence the new user name.

I think I'm on track to get the little red delrin D2 Peanut to replace my trusty Schrade Old Timer "Pal" and actually a Henckels brand 4 blade stockman to replace my old Case stockman.

I'll let you know how it goes (but over in the Traditional forum).

Thanks again,

Jon

Posting this here because I don't want to mosey all the way over to the Traditional forum and look it up. I bought a Queen in D2. I have to say that it is the only knife that I have bought that I really regret buying. It must have slipped through QC. The blade is actually ground crooked, or appears to be. Horrible edge bevel, to the point that it is not really worth my time to try to clean it up (although I did try, so the thing is scratched up now). After reading other people's experiences with Queen, I figured it was worth a shot, especially for the outlay. I have to say I was mistaken. YMMV, but I was disappointed.

Rockspyder, that doesn't sound good. Which pattern did you order? Perhaps I should just fork out $20 for the Schrade/Old Timer small stockman...

The one I bought was the Copperhead. The is a chance that sometime I'll go to the trouble of reprofiling the edge. At least then I'll use it. But not in the foreseeable future, for now. I like the idea of supporting a totally American company (or what appears to be). That is the redeeming factor in the purchase.

Incidentally, while I maybe should have complained to either the company or the distributor about it, I didn't. Stupid is as.... you get the idea. Despite this, I have heard nothing but good about the knives; that is the main reason I figure I must have gotten one that slipped through QC. But I figured you deserved to know that there was at least one dissenter.
