Hey guys, I just recently finished my battle of the budget choppers review, and before trading my RTAK II away for another Ontario, I got a quick review of it up to help potential buyers make their decision. (assuming they don't want to watch the entire battle of the budget choppers series, in which the Ontario ties for first place)

To some the RTAK II up in one word would be pretty easy. My first choice would be awesome. Value would be a high word on my list as well. I am really glad to see Ontario moving towards 5160 steel, and I think that it really performs great.

Check it out!

I have an Ontario Afghan, the blade is great, the handle feels like I am holding a full sized brick! I never take it just due to ergos! That's sad too cause I really want to love and use the knife! Is the RTAK any different?

Yes, I would say that the RTAK is different. It is more subtly curved, not as much as I would like, but not a brick. I think that it is boarderline on handle comfort, but has great potential for user modification.
Want to sell or trade the Afghan?

Well I am always looking for knives to review, and I have quite a bit of stuff to trade, so if you decide that you want to let her go, shoot me a pm. I call dibs ;-)

I went RD9 for my flat grind with a good thumpin and whumping hilt. I wanted 1/4" 5160 straight edge blade and get it before the money ran away like it does when one tries to save for like that nice big Ontario Bushcraft blade that is coming. That was the only one there was, or SP-50 would of been the choice,. I like the fact the RD9 can do little knife things, even if a bit over balanced top blade heavy. Even with all its "Faults" (handle issues some I can find but its not that bad, I got lucky and got the SP-51 style sheath with it) its still a great knife although I swished, swashed slashed, hacked, cut and batoned one woodsy session with it. Really its a great value like most OKC knives.
