Has anyone had any experience with Ontario Knife Co RTAK. I think it stands for Randall's training and adventure knife. I like the looks of it and was thinking about getting one of them. I was just curious if anyone had anything to say.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

If you need a small machette and a big knife but don't want to carry both get the RTAK.

If you need a small hatchet and a big knife but don't want to carry both get the BK&T #9.

If you just need a big knife see if you can find the discontinued BK&T Fisk.

Hey Junkyard,
Check out Newt Livesay's site for some great blades on the same line as what you are talking about, espeacially the "AK"- Adventure Knife. The "AK" is more expensive than the RTAK, but you get a hand ground knife with what I consider a great Kydex sheath , and some of the best Miccarta scales in the business. He is at http://newtlivesay.com

Stay Sharp,

I own one and love it. I have done some limb removal with it around the property, and it does pretty well. Great replacement for a shorter bladed machete. Only complaints are the sheath, and I am working on that one now.

By the way, great buy for the money.

For $75, it seems like a lot of knife. I got to see one up close at a local show recently, and did not buy it. Sure wish I would have bought it now though.

Just got one from a member of another forum, in new condition. This is some big knife, much bigger in person than I expected. Mine came shaving sharp, although I have read that some don't. I will have to compare it against my Cold Steel Trailmaster and my Gerber bowie. I'm looking forward to chopping something this weekend. I have a bunch of short lenghts of 2x4s that I have no particular need for so I'll turn them into kindling. I might test the three of them against each other just to see which one I like the best.

Some may say that I'm an unfair judge. I have done the photo's for both the RTAK and the Beckers. But in truth, it means that I have both and have been able to really use them. What it comes down to is this. Pick the one that feels good to you. At the prices of any of them you can't loose.
