one side is alot lower than the other. forgive me if im being nitpicky but i just wanted to make sure its not a blem because it seemed like the seller went out of his way to hide the condition of the knives he sells in general

It looks rough but not that asymmetrical.

If you want to put your mind to ease, write the manufacturer directly (Ontario) and show them the photos.

i know this wont hurt the functionality at all (not a carving knife) : D but my interest is whether or not its NORMAL... revealing to me whether or not this was sold to me as a normal factory version while actually being a blemish.

yes this happens frequently with ontario

hmm... if the GRIND is so varied and low quality... whos to say the heat treat/temper isnt as well! is the steel condition something of solid quality with the company? and just general aesthetics being varied?

typical fit and finish of an ontario product buas far as function goes it will not hinder a bit

That is a lousy grind, I would have it re-cut to my specs and not even bother with Ontario Knife Company. I had a RTAK crack in half about 6 years ago and never bought another knife from that company, just my preference but for cheap stuff that holds up there are other companies.

Typically, Blem's are marked somewhere on the blade if they are sold as such from the factory. I have had to return one knife to Ontario - I had a new one in a week. Try giving them a call - they will even refund your shipping.

Doesn't look as though it would affect performance but I definitely wouldn't be happy with it.

The guy who ground that blade must have been drunk! I'd send it back if I were you. :thumbdn: Then get a rat or Busse, but hey that's just me. ;)

I realize he's banned, but thats pretty bad. I bet ya that tool messed it up on purpose.

Get a file and fix it if it bothers you that much. They are not that hard and you should be able to file it with a good sharp file.
