So I just got my RTAK today from Bladematrix and I thought I would deck it out. I know its not all I need to survive but it isnt intended to be.

I cant wait to get this thing out in the woods. Hope you are having a great weekend.

I love my RTAK, just today I ground out the serrations to make a more fine, draw blade area in its place and added a CS mini pendleton hunter piggy backed for delicate, small work. HAve waterproof matches, lighter and 10m of 2mm cord in the pocket and about 13m of para cord around the sheath. Ive got a smallpouch that I can put on the belt for a first aid kit/GPS/Camera.

Its agood rig for bushwalks/wandering away from camp and taking for road trips. DOnt need much else since for decent trips ive always got a camelbak/daypack with my other gear.

That CS mini looks like a great backup. Thanks for reminding me about paracord on the sheath-- I keep forgetting to do that. Dead simple and I LOVE to tangle line at any opportunity. With the wrap you can cut off what you need and re-tie.

Update: I just wandered down to my workshop and wrapped the shealth on my SAS golok. A nice side benefit is that it snugged up the fit on the sheath. It has always been a little loose for my liking and I was able to dial in the fit by adjusting the tightness of the wrap. I used a modifed French whipping, maiking half hitches on the outside surface of the sheath and a plain wrap aound the back, leaving a smooth surface-- continuous whipping would leave more bumps on the back side and more friction against my leg. In partical terms, it came out to two half hitches and a wrap around the back to start two more half hitches on the outside, and around again. Rinse, lather, repeat, and melt a knot to secure when finished.

Do you like the handle? I got the RTAK 2, the handle is shaped more like the RAT 7, its very comfortable. I held a RTAK at a gun show and thought that the handle was too big for me.
