I just bought a small Ruana Bowie. I looked in "Knives '93" which indicated they use 5160 for large Bowie's and 1095 for smaller knives. I wondered if this was the case, and especially if they have changed blade steels lately? Anyone know exactly what steels they use now? Thanks--Bruce Woodbury

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold the great red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads...And His tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth; and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

You might email them and ask. Rudys grandsons. Mike, Mark and Matt Hangas are making the knives. They dont have a web sight but their e-mail address is Ruanaknf@montana.com

I have a small fix blade after Rudys time made by DH Ruana. It is of 1080 series steel and is breathtakingly sharp!
