Advice for polishing small marks, scratches etc from blades? I have 2 Ruana knives from about 1968 to 1970. The blades to my knowledge are either makde from Studabaker spings, or are 1095 steel.

I don't to remove the imperfections that make a Ruana knife special, I'd just like to bring out the character of the blade and remove the marks from wear.

Any help would be appreciated.

How deep are these marks? If you try to get these out you may lose the original finish. Or, you will add new marks, using abrasive papers or pads. Polishing won't do the Trick, most likely either. Maybe a buffing?

Get a second opinion, w/ blades like these- contact the Ruana guys for advice, i'd say. You could really mess w./ the value on these, doing it wrong.

Yes-don't do anything except oil it. Any sanding or polishing will ruin the value.
