Here is a Ruana that you don't see everyday: the "CB CK" (Custom Brass Camp Knife). Here is heir web page that describes it: http://ruanaknives.com/bowies.aspx

I ordered this knife on 04/01/2010, then visited the Ruana factory on 07/16/2010 (on the way to compete in Cooper Arms' 2010 One-Shot Competition in Hamilton, MT), and was given the opportunity to hand-pick its Elk Stag handle. Mike Hangas gave me the tour, and I met his brother, Mark, along with their father, Victor.

I also specified a black sheath, and three knife maker signatures.

Here are the first five photos:

The three photos below were taken at the Ruana factory on 07/15/2010, showing the CB CK blade blank, along with the Elk Stag that I picked out for it:

I was thinking that it'd be great if Ruana were to come out with a CB SCK (Custom Brass Small Camp Knife), perhaps with a five- or six-inch blade, and slightly thinner blade stock.

Ken, they seem to be pretty amenable to doing custom work right now. Why don't you ask Mike if he can make one up like that? (Er, maybe I should say "make two up," because I'd want one too.)

That is one of the nicest Ruana's I have seen. I really like the brass fittings. Thank you for posting pictures of it as I remember the thread regarding the materials you picked out.

Will do.

To follow up on this, I spoke with Mike earlier today, and he told me that such a knife (or knives) could be made. He also sent to me a photo showing their smaller Custom Brass Knives that were once in their catalog, and while no longer in their catalog, they can still be ordered. He gave me permission to post the photo, so here it is:

Well crap. Guess I'm going to have to send off an e-mail to Mike. That sound you hear is more money flying out the window.

Thanks, Ken.

Boy, talk about a fast response. Kinda pricey, and I think I'd want more than a 4-1/4" blade, but I'm thinking about it. . . .

I am thinking about a five-inch blade. My favorite among them is the CB AD-2, which is the second one down on the left side.

And I like the three-stage handles at the bottom. Of course that's the most expensive choice. FML.

Decisions, decisions.

Samael,

If you're game for a CB AD-2 modeled after my CB CK, but with a five-inch blade and a Brass butt cap, let me know.
