Reliable Ruana Knife Info
Occasionally the desire for a new functional tool (an all-purpose and everyday carry knife in this case) meshes with creative yearning to create a new product. That is how our new Reliable Ruana knife came to fruition.

Special Notes:
- Preference for future numbered series will be given to customers who purchase the 80th Anniversary Collector’s Edition axe (not the Reliable Ruana). For example, if you purchase Axe # 36 you will have first chance for # 36 of the next numbered series.
- If you are interested in any of these items, make sure you have had correspondence with us and confirmation of availability, before sending payment. We accept PayPal, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover as well as check and money order. We are willing to discuss payment plan options with you, if necessary.
- We’re not always at our computer but will respond to private messages, phone calls and email messages ASAP and update available numbers as they are sold.

The Bit & Body:
- One solid piece of ¼” 1095 high carbon steel, makes up the entire bit, body and tang that extends into the cast aluminum handle.
- The hammer forged head measures about 5” from the butt end to the cutting edge.
- The top of the bit to the hilt of the handle is about 8” long. This is much longer than our standard hatchet and creates good leverage and power for a working tool.
- Acknowledgement of this being our 80th Anniversary Collector’s Edition and unique number is laser engraved into each axe.

The Handle:
- The cast aluminum handle mold is the same one we used for our 75th Anniversary Knife. Sticking with a throwback look this handle has 3 rivets to secure the dovetail, elk antler inserts.
- The handles are marked with the current stamp that has been used on knives from 1984 – present day.
- We are using a brand new, special logo on this sheath. The stamp also notes “Since 1938” which is the year of Ruana Knife Works inception.
- A brass snap, rather than the standard nickel snap, adds uniqueness to the sheath.
- Each axe comes with a Certificate of Authenticity that corresponds to the engraving on the axe.
- An extra-large padded zipper case embroidered with the same logo as the sheath will come with each axe for preserving your heirloom quality investment.
- Only 101 axes and sheaths (prototype plus 100) will be made with these collectible specs.
- Your purchase of this numbered Collector’s Edition will give you the right of first refusal for any numbered series made in the future.
- $ 1190 each includes shipping and insurance charges via UPS Ground in the lower 48 states or Priority Mail in all 50 States. Additional charges for UPS shipping to Hawaii & Alaska and all shipments outside the United States will apply.
- 36 (shown in photo above), 38, 46, 50, 51, 52, 54, 57, 63, 68, 70 and 91.
Reliable Ruana Knife Info
Occasionally the desire for a new functional tool (an all-purpose and everyday carry knife in this case) meshes with creative yearning to create a new product. That is how our new Reliable Ruana knife came to fruition.

Blade Specs:
- The 3 ½” hammer forged blade is made from 1/8”, 1095 high carbon steel.
- This exact blade shape has never been made before by us. The versatile drop point blade is useful in a variety of outdoor situations.
- Thumb notches on the spine for about 1” from the hilt provide a great grip.

Handle Specs:
- The 4 5/8” cast aluminum handle is made from a brand new mold developed by Mark. It provides a more streamlined handle than other models and has and comfortable groove for your index finger.
- The most unique feature of the handle is that the inserts are glued in rather than being secured with our traditional aluminum rivets.
- The top of each handle for the Prototype and first 100 of these knives will be hand engraved old-school style, in shop, with Reliable ~ 1 and so on through 100 with a unique number.

Sheath Specs:
- We created a brand new stamp that will be used on sheaths for special products of this nature.
- A brand new design was created for the Reliable Ruana sheath and it is topped off with a brass snap to add its uniqueness.
- Each knife will come with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity that corresponds to the engraved number on the handle.
- The zipper case shown below is included for preserving this special knife.
- A distinct name and design that has never been made before at the Ruana Knife Works shop.
- Only the prototype and first 100 of this knife will be made with all of the collectibles specs.
- As we approach the twilight of our careers, the quantity of Ruana knives we make is likely to decrease and there is no guarantee on how many more we will make.
- $ 620 each includes shipping and insurance charges via UPS Ground in the lower 48 states or Priority Mail in all 50 States. Additional charges for UPS shipping to Hawaii & Alaska and all shipments outside the United States will apply.
- 55 (shown in photo above) and 83.
