I tried searching for this but i wasnt able to find any threads. Im looking to coat a couple skeletonized neck knives in some kind of rubber or vinyl coating and wondered if anybody had any suggestions of what kind to use. Im not sure what it is actually called, but basically the same substance like on benchmade push daggers.
I only need a small amount, would it be better to look at a hardware store or at a craft store? Thank you in advance:)

What he^ said.

Plastidip is commonly available. I've seen it at Home Depot. It comes in spray and cans. I don't know how well it holds up over time.

Spray-on rubber truck bed liner is also commonly available. One should be able to find it at auto care stores. I've also seen it at Walmart in the auto care section.

Plastidip doesn't seem to hold up to well. I have used it on tools in the past.
Perhaps truck bed liner would work better.

I've used the canned Plasti-dip to coat an old wrench's handles. It worked fine, haven't used it much, so can't comment on durability. I will say once you open the can, you better use it soon. It will dry up shortly after opening, I think mine did within 2 or 3 weeks. The spray might be better- able to shoot multiple thin coats easier, without waiting for globs of plastidip to fall/dry off of part.
