Rubber handled winkler?

So I have been admiring the winkler belt knife for years as well as his tomahawks and I think it is about time to bite the bullet and purchase one! At first I was going straight for the curly maple handles but I got to thinking about the rubber handles and their functionality. So my question is to anyone that owns or has handled one what is your impression of them? How grippy are they and how durable do they seem? Are they similar to a Kraton rubber?
Thanks for any advice in advance guys! I'm really looking forward some winkler gear!

Come on guys I wanna order one tonight! Haha there must be some winkler owners out there!

I have the curly maple handle. It looks great and feels good in the hand. Who needs rubber?

Probably more Winkler owners in the axe and tomahawk section. Inquire there.

Get your handle wet with blood and the rubber is still grippy.............That's the reason I like them............carl

Well I may not own a Winkler but I do know a lot about the rubber handle material. It's horse mat stall recycled rubber. It's used on the floors of horse stalls and also used on the floors of gyms to absorb heavy impacts without damaging the weights/horses or the floor material.

It's rigid enough to handle a 2000 lbs mammal standing on it for years, and also flexible enough to absorb a 400 lbs bar being dropped on the floor from a height of a few feet after a set of weight lifting.

Not pretending to be an expert in this material or Winkler knives, but stating some knowledge I have about the handle material in question.

I've got one of the sayoc tomahawks and picked the curly maple.... wouldn't have it any other way. completely up to you, but im sold. its tough, great to look at and feels good... not sure i'd feel as in love with the rubber.

I use horse stall for all the big boys and beautiful wood for smaller knives.
'Em big boys ain't going slow coming your way if you lose the grip.

The JEST bolo has rubber padding on the handle for shock absorption as well as grip.
Horse stall smells better on your palm after a day's work.:D

I have a rubber (horse stall mat) handled comp cutter but never used it in the winter.
Anyone use or know how rubber reacts to sub-zero temps as far as icing up or getting slick ?

Doug
