I have had this Jeep for about a year, and it is not a daily driver, just a fun vehicle when time permits. I rebuilt the carb, and have done some home made upgrades that the interwebs provide. It is not running perfect, but since I had not run it in dirt yet, I thought I should get my act together, dust off the man card, pull it out and get outdoors. I keep the doors off when I drive primarily because it is hard on my left knee with hard doors on, not enough room. However, it does provide that open air experience that comes with a Jeep. There is a dirt access road called Ruby Canyon that is off San Francisquito Canyon that is basically in the wilderness between Santa Clarita/Newhall and Palmdale. I took my twin boys, as my step kids wanted to go to the Boys and Girls Club. So, I took advantage of Veteran's day to spend time with my boys. I hope when I am old and on my death bed, my boys say that I did take them some cool places, this being only one of them.
The road is doable with any 2 wd truck or suv, 4x4 was not even needed really, unless it started raining, and that is what I was hoping. A car would have bottomed out in some of the ruts and been damaged, not recommended. We only went in about 5 miles.
I call that "black widow spider undercarriage removal."
Hope you enjoy the pics, it was a fun quick get away. I wanted to stay up there longer, but had to pick up ol' Gracie from the groomer, she was getting de stinked.
