I had Bubba pick up some melons on the way home night before last so I could Ruck around with them yesterday. :) I ended up playing with an AK a little bit too.

Me and my Ruck :)

My future targets...the first batch at least:

My first swing with the Ruck I didn't catch the whole length of the watermelon, so I sliced through it and knocked it down:

Here's Bubba holding it open to show me that I got a piece of it:

At this point in the Rucking games, the kids woke up from their nap, and I had to let Bubba finish off that melon. He took pics with his left hand while he sliced with his right, and got some pretty good spraying melon pics I think.

This is him having taken the Ruck...I guess he's intimidating the melon or something:

He didn't quite catch the sword in the picture this time, but it was a good clean cut:

This one is a pretty good midstrike pic. If you look in the lower left-hand corner of the melon you can kind of see the sword blur as it travels through the melon:

Five seconds later than the last pic...the slice he was cutting last pic has fallen away:

His next good slice pic...no sword, but the slice is just starting to fall off the melon:

I guess he got hungry looking at all the melonic carnage at this point:

Once I got the kids situated with their Uncle, I came back out to Ruck around a little more...at this point I tried the AK....New sword means new melon of course.

A clean slice this time!

I felt pretty warmed up at this point....so we moved out onto the grass and I started taking care of some flying melons. The first couple times Bubba pitched them to me, but he said that made it hard to run the camera and the video camera, (what a whiner!), so then I just threw them into the air and sliced them on the way down.

Bubba reminds me to "keep my eye on the melon"......

....and it totally worked! This was one of my cleanest hits on the cantaloupes. You can't quite see the melon flying in two yet, but the sword has passed through the melon in this pic:

I'm not looking for flying pigs, just waiting for my melon to come down:

Another shot that was a little too early...I really got ahold of this little watermelon right after this pic:

It was a ton of fun, and I can't wait until next time when we'll have more help, so one person can take pics while another runs the camera and a third throws melons for the fourth person to cut. I wanted to upload the vids we did, but we took them in High Definition, which photobucket doesn't like very much. Next time I'll make sure to do standard definition so you can see more of the throwing and chopping and whatnot.

The spray of melon juice when the swords slice through them is totally invigorating. Like a beauty treatment almost.

Bubba did some melon chopping too, but since he is the pic taker, there weren't many of his meloncide. He said that the Ruck was waaay faster than the AK, so much so that it was a problem when he was throwing cantaloupes and cutting them. He would clip the bottom edge of the melon and barely cut it at all, or miss the sucker entirely because the Ruck swung so fast. He said he got ahold of the melon every time with the AK though, and that he couldn't even really feel when he hit the melon. He thought he had missed his first strike until he saw the cantaloupe hit the ground and roll into multiple pieces.

I did not have the problem with the Ruck being too fast...it was perfect for the flying cantaloupes. The AK gave me more reach, and let me hit some throws I would have missed with the Ruck, but the Ruck was so much faster and easier to swing that I was a lot more accurate with it. The AK was easier to take clean slices of the standing watermelon with though.

Great post! Is your upstairs neighbor looking out in fear in that one shot? LOL

Nice pics. I know it was hot this weekend but your tempature gauge reads 108 in the shade, it didnt get that hot there did it? It must be broken cause your wearing long sleeves and pants.

We wear heavy clothes in the heat; otherwise we burn like bacon. I don't think it was actually 108...more like 103, and yes, I too think that thermometer is broken. :)

Remember,

You're supposed to eat what you kill.

What did that poor little melon ever do to you?

Pre-emptive self defence?

Practice for the Fruit Zombie Games?

LOL! That looked like a whole lot of fun   I need to give that a try one of these hot days.

The last time I tried to cut water bottles in the air....I looked like I just got out of the shower after a couple of cuts.

Oooohhh! :D I just got an inspiration for a new sport...ladies slo-pitch melon slaying!! GREAT pics, Lady Thud, looks like one more fun experience I'll have to try with my AK!!

Great pix!! :D:thumbup::thumbup: Nice to see someone giving those horrible evil melons the punishment that they deserve!! ;) ...And I thought zombies were bad!
