for all ya guys with mini14's, i am sure ya know that the only reliable hicap mags are the ruger brand 20 & 30 rounders, right now ruger is selling new 20 round mags off the website www.ruger.com for $29.95, a special running from now till inauguration day, pretty cool as AFAIK they have been mostly selling these only to LEO's, for many yrs it was only to LEO's, good for them imho. click on "internet specials".

if i didnt already have 4 or 5 20's and 4 30's i would jump all over this.

Thanks sifu!

Although this action is just pathetic on Ruger's part. Just like S&W, they pandered to the gun grabbers in the 90's. S&W resold and turned their game around, yet Rugar continued to withhold the high cap mags from civilians all through the Bush years. Now, they find an massive overstock on mags and want to sell out before the gun grabbers get back in power.

I had forgotten my grudge against Ruger, but it is now rekindled.

"No honest man needs more than 10 rounds in any gun. I never meant for simple civilians to have my 20 or 30 round magazines ..." - Bill Ruger to NBC Newsman Tom Brokaw.

May Bill Ruger rot in hell.

Edit: the Ruger website says that the 20 round magazines are out of stock.

They are just trying to make a buck I think.

Undoubtedly true. When they maneuvered to pander to the gun grabbers they were just trying ensure their future. As a businessman I understand that. As a gun rights believer, it is important to see them as they are. They could have made a lot more money the last eight years had they supported the US citizens.

Sifu, I apologize for dumping on your thread. I hope you can forgive me. :o

I got in on the offer....but needed to call customer service to find out they underestimated the demand for these mags....they cancelled many orders and even though I already paid...the mags are backordered. the rep said it could be 1 or 2 weeks before they would have any to ship!
but at that price...it is worth the wait!

not a problem , i understand your frustration with them, they have been jerky about the mags for many yrs, it was imho silly & started a long time ago, early '80's IIRC, .

but its a good deal if ya have a mini, cheaperthandirt.com is selling the same 20 rnd'ers, used, for IIRC $49.95.

i imagine there is quite a demand for the things considering recent happenings and the fact that i dont think they ever sold them before, not since the early '80s anyway.

from what I understand....the experts say the 14 runs BEST with OEM mags.....
...guess you pretty much stated that in the first post!

i have bought 8 or 10 aftermarket mags thru the yrs, of them 2 work 100%, 2 or 3 are ok but wont lock the bolt back on the last round, and the rest were trash lol, they dont feed right.

if i was gonna depend on a mini for anything other than varmints of the 4 legged variety i would want ruger mags in it.

this really presents a dillemma to mini 30 owners, the 7.62X39 mini's, as AFAIK ruger never made a hi cap mag for it, and all of the aftermarket hi caps are 'iffy' at best, a bud has had one for yrs now, he deer hunts with it, and has never found a reliable 20 or 30 round mag for it(& he has tried a few lol, i bet a dozen or so), so imho unless ya wanna deer hunt with it ya are stuck with a 5 rnd mag, not good imho, FWIW its not a bad little deer rifle though.
