Hello , I was working on my new big grinder and long story short I overheated the tip at such level where its too damn big to grind off , I want to re heat treat the blade and am wondering , do I just re heat treat it straight away or normalize first?
Thanks

did it turn blue ? wether you can re-HT it depends on how thin the edge is. it might warp if its too thin. i do not think you need to normalize again.

Its a done edge but its a scandi grind so it wont warp or very little

Before you go too far, check to see if the tip is really damaged. Test it on a brass rod or cut/chop on a piece of wood and see how it does. Turning blue for a second doesn't necessarily ruin the HT. It may lower the temper in the tip, which isn't such a bad thing.
