I recently got one of these sharpeners along with some diamond stones and find it does a really good job. Except for small blades, so I made this adapter out of hard maple

For small blades I would use the narrow side, the other end would actually be further into the clamps I just stuck it in for the photo

And larger blades that are still too small for the metal clamps to work

This would be for those knives that need to really grind down the bevels, making it similar to the edge Pro in that the blade is not clamped down and to sharpen the other side you would flip knife over
Now I didn’t sharpen this knife on it as I hand sharpened it but I did use it for my new GEC Whittler and it’s very sharp now

i can sharpen such blades on my ruixin pro iii too, great! even without adapter.

yeah for setting exact beautiful bevel geometries guided rod sharpeners are perfect. i believe lansky set the reference.

Yah the one you have is more like an edge pro mine clamps the blade and you can flip the knife over to do the other side, very handy system until you get to really small blades
I had an edge pro and for that I would use a tongue depressor to space the blade out

How are the diamond hones that it came with? Were they aftermarket or the ones with the black plastic base that it comes with?

The one I got did not have diamond stones I picked up a set off Amazon for about $19 and those work pretty good
The stones that came with mine are not backed and would wear quickly so I wanted to avoid that worry

You can buy the plastic backing plates, they come in sets of 4 for about 2 bucks. I stripped my Ruixin Pro for spare parts, the angles on the clamp were a nightmare on mine, just too difficult and time consuming to readjust every time you flipped it over, otherwise you could not apex the bevels. But i am not worried, the parts have come in very handy. But if you want to look at getting some backing plates.
