Hello, newbie here. Just bought a Ruixin PRO and cannot get the stone to not fall out of the holder. I have adjusted the screws, moved the handle as close to the stones edge as possible but cannot get the stone to stay snugly in the chamber. . Can someone please help? I’ve watched a hundred YouTube videos.

What stones are you using? Not much in the way of support here, as the rixiun line of sharpens are a blatant Chinese rip off of an American made product. But stone issues I may be able to help with.

Are they double sided stones or single stones that should clip into place?

Thank you for the response. I bought the unit as well as the stones, whet as well as the oil type from

The reason why I ask about the stones is, most sharpeners that style use a stone on a plate which has a notch, or pointy end to it which locks the stone in place. If the stones your using dont have that pointy edge on them, they will fall out. These stones are called an "edgepro" style of stones as thats who's design they are copying.

Diamonds are mainly for harder steels, or what are commonly called "super steels" around here. s30 and above. I'm not qualified enough on Japanese steels to know. As I recall they are used alot in cooking, and I dont, lol

I have found that a stiff spring, to hold one end of the stone holder tight, instead of a set screw works better. Here is a picture of what I'm talking about.

I don't know if this is applicable on your sharpener, or not. When I googled ruixin pro I got multiple designs, on some it looked like a spring would work, on others not. I don't know which version you have, so this may be of help and it may not be. any way the constant tension of a fairly stiff spring, seems to hold the stone better than pushing the end block as tight as you can and tightening down a set screw. A stiff spring works best, but you still have to be able to compress it enough to change stones. Y0u should be able to buy springs at your local hardware store.

I use my CKTG diamond plates on all my knives regardless of steel. From 1070 carbon steel, up through any of the super steels that I own, S30v, S35vn, 20cv, and including my Shun kitchen knives in vg10. I have had no problems sharpening any of them with the diamond plates.

O.B.

If you only have the bonded synthetic stones that came with the ruixin, then I would suggest as soon as possible to get better stones as a start. They are awful, soft as butter and just disintegrate and makes a mess while you use them.

The Chinese diamond plated stones for the ruixin are much better than the other garbage stones they provide and they will serve most of your sharpening needs. Be sure just to use soapy water with them, they tend to work better and last longer if used with a small drip bottle of water mixed with a couple drops of liquid dish soap. Hopefully you also got a set of diamond plated stones with the plastic bases?

If you have a set of diamond stones on backings, then you're set to sharpen any knife, not just ceramic knives. Diamonds will sharpen any steel. Eventually you may want more variety of stones bit initially the diamond will be good for everything.

If you don't have the diamond plated and you're on a budget then have a look at getting the Chinese diamond plated stones if you didn't get a set with the Ruixin.

If you want to spend a bit more, then have a look at edge pro size stones on a web store like Gritomatic, they have a great selection.

Did you get the metal base version of the Ruixin pro, or the plastic base version?

Did you get the stone holder that takes 4 stones at the same time, or just 1 stone?

If you have the 4 stone holder, then definitely only one 1 or 2 stones in it maximum. If you install 4 stones, then one or two of them will always be loose due to the design.

I have some free 3d printable designs for upgrades and options for the Ruixin sharpeners, if you are interested then let me know and maybe it can help you.

Wow, thank you so much. I got the whetstone that are standard with the machine and the marble like stones. The standard stones do not have a platform to sit on like the other stones. I did not get the diamond ones but am seriously thinking about it. I would love to employ your assistance with the upgrades. Be happy to pay for your time as well.
