Has anyone heard of Ruko knives? My uncle gave me a beat up lockback to clean up for him. It says Ruko on the tang. It's a 3" or so wharncliffe lockback with rubber grip inserts and brass bolsters. It needs a lot of TLC, and it's probably a CCC, but I honestly like it. It's hefty, has great ergonomics, and the lockup is vault-like.

EDIT: I thought it said BUKO, it's RUKO. I found a website.

They seem to be a knockoff brand, but it's pretty good quality.

I've seen a few in a shop window, i was going to make a thread asking about them a few weeks ago. I never bothered to look into them.

The ones they had looked ok, but i doubt i'd buy one. They had a black handled silver bolster 110-like model that i thought looked pretty neat.

I think they are made in spain, by Muela? My younger brother has a small fixed blade from Ruko- nothing fancy, but it took a good edge.

Ruko is the low-end Chinese made stuff marketed by the Spanish Muela company. One of my local hardware stores has stocked them to replace their Schrade line. I bought one of their stockman as a goof, and it is a complete POS.

Can't get an edge on it to save my life and has some of the sloppiest fit and finish I have ever seen.

I've got a meula fixed from before I found spydies. Not BAD for the $40 I spent on it... makes a nice camp beater.

I'd rather just buy 4 moras though for the same price.

Hi,

I've had some encounters with Ruko products before. About 6 years back, a few of my fishing buddies picked up some Ruko knives at a local outdoor shop. If I recall correctly, they looked a lot like knockoff copies of the Spyderco Delica, with plastic handles, questionable steel, and loose pivits. That being said, they seemed to do the jobs they were tasked to reasonably well (opening packages, cutting line, and such), and they didn't cost much at all. I'll see if I can solicit some pictures.

All the best,

Mike

My lil bros knife is marked "made in spain", not china- so maybe there is an even lower, lower end?

You right, I should have specified that it's their Ruko Traditional Slpijoint patterns that are Chinese made.
