i have been thinking about buying a benchmade rukus more and more... has anybody owned this knike or still does is it as great as benchmade wants us to believe, am currently carrying an endura 4, need to be able to have it function as a field knife (gutting /skinning small game) thoughts anyone?

It's an awesome knife, one of Benchmade's best, but the full sized one is wayyyy too big for an EDC. But outside the realm of sheeple, by all means, a wonderful tool.

i don't mind a big knife theres no laws in vermont restricting blade length, i guess my biggest concern is, is it useful as a EDC and could a still use it in the woods, cape a coyote, dress a squirrel/hare, my endura really does a good job with this but the rukus is really nice, seems to have a good blade geometry, my EDC has to have at least 3" of blade 4" is better, maybe 4.25" is perfect

I have one and carry it daily to work and play. It is large and heavy, in a good way to me. It is wonderfully fitted together, with a great finish quality. It is a handy cutting tool that I do use daily.
The one thing I wish was more solid is the pocket clip. It is not as solid as I would like for a knife of this mass. If it catches on something it bends fairly easily. I have taken it off a couple of time since I got it to tighten its hold on my pocket. That is my only minor quip with the Rukus.
I would buy it again tomorrow with all I know about it and have experienced with its use.
Hope this helps.:D

I have both the Rukus and the Mini-Rukus. Both are excellent knives, and I think either would do well for what you have in mind.

I haven't had any problems with the clips so far, but they do seem a bit on the light side for the knife.

Like the others have said, they are BIG! Even the Mini si definitely a handful!

I've carried the Rukus extensively in the field when for some reason a fixed blade would be inappropriate, and it has done very well.

I expect the Mini to do as well.

I'd recommend handling one before you buy it - the handles are very "filling" and while they fit me well, I can imagine some might think they are too BIG.

Just in case this helps at all- I have not used one, but I got to handle one yesterday at a shop. I have medium-small hands, so I was very surprised that I preferred the large Ruckus over the Mini. Felt really good in a variety of grips and was very well balanced and "handy" feeling. Very tempting except for my fear of S30V in such a large blade (I am looking for a hard use folder)

Got one clipped to my pocket now, Only had it for about a month now, but its held up just fine. Yeah, It`s a bit on the large size, But then I prefer a larger folder. Very well made knife, and feels good in the hand.I handled the mini also, but liked the large one better.
