is it safe to put your high dollar kitchen knives in the dishwasher,,,,,
Not custom made,,but the commercial grade production knives,,,

asking for a friend,,,, Merry Christmas!!!

I would say no. If they are carbon steel they will rust. Also depending on what epoxy was used it could weaken the bond.

No.

The high heat destroys any glue bond, or shrinks the plastic handles.

The detergent does not all dissolve. There is some amount of abrasive grit in the mix.

If there is any aluminum component, the rinse agent is lye.
In combination with the heat, it etches, darkens and pits any aluminum immediately.

Besides
It's not needed.

Use it, quick rinse with hot water, wipe on cloth, hot water rinse, dry, block it.

No it’s not. I bought a laguoile cheese knife for my g/f in Paris. The next time I saw it the handle scales had separated. She had put it in the dishwasher.

It takes longer To open the dishwasher door and put the knife in then it does to wipe it and dry it.

A simple and short answer is that the dishwasher will damage and eventually destroy a good knife.

Wash by hand, dry off well, put away. That is in bold print on mys knife sheet I give with a kitchen knife.

No, don't put any knife in the dishwasher, it will eventually ruin them. Best thing to do is was by hand make sure they are thoroughly dried, put a light out of food grade oil on them, even if they're stainless, before you put them away.
