rumor mill. Wil the manix be discontinued?

Just to add to the rumor (and to Bump this), I believe I read there was work on a Manix2 being done at Boulder...
 
The Military, Delica, Endura, Manix and Native are all flagships of the Colorado line. Well, two are made in Japan, but you know what I mean...
 
Well, we've been surprised before. Forum favorites like the Calypso jr. and the Dodo got discontinued as well. I don't think our sales alone are enough to hold up a product. The Manix has been in the line-up for a few years now; I think the usual lifespan of a spydie is around three years; with the noteable exceptions of the Delica/Endura/Millie/Native etc...

im really not a spidey guy, but i do like the Manix. if it goes, then that means sale at the local knife shop!
 
I have my Manix full sized clipped to my pocket right now.

Love this knife.

Its one of the very best knives out there. I hope it survives or an improved model is produced.
 
Well Zen, Sal has been here and posted at least once since this thread went up. Kristi's been logged on several times during that period as well. Both have also been logged onto the Spyderco Factory forum since your thread on this subject was posted there. No comment so far from either of them to either of these threads or to the original thread that triggered them.

I'm guessing it's a misunderstanding. Either it's not true, or was not intended for general release at this time. Spyderco normally waits until November to post the year's "retirement list". I think we may have to wait until then to find out which.

Very asture observation Paul.

We have "heard" the "rumor" as well, but prefer not to comment. We generally try to keep that information relatively obscure until the catalog comes out in October.

If Spyderco discontinues the Manix, they will all be gone in a month or so, and they will be totally legendary on these forums. People will be selling them at like $300 a piece.

QFT I dont have one.....now I have to have one, I have held out cuz I know I dont "need" one and my brother has one. Now I certainly NEED ONE!
 
I love it when there's talk of a spydie getting disco'd! I like to feel the rush and the heat of the moment as I scramble to make a mad dash for as many as I can scarf up, not caring in the least whether I actually LIKE the knife! :eek::D
But if they DO disco the Manix, I gotta get me a bunch!!
 
I have been trying to make up my mind for awhile what $100+ folder I want.

The Manix is up there. I may just have to break down and get one now.
