Endura 4 with Wave
Came in the mail yesterday, and went to work on the clip. I don't mind black clips, I just hate it when the paint starts to come off. It only takes a day of carry to have it starting to look like crap.
Added a simple lanyard. I am not into fancy ones.
I also have a Emerson HD-7 that cost me 3x this, but I am liking Endura 4 more! Call me crazy, but that's just me!

Many people have their opinion on what is the best knife. I believe the knife has to have solid reliablity and quality. Anybody can make a great knife, but can everybody do it a cost that most are willing to pay? I think that is the main question.
I love all the neat gimmicks found on more expensive knives as much as the next guy, but are all those bells and whistles necessary.
Here is a knife that I feel has everything you need and nothing you don't.

Endura/Delica 4 Wave

Textured FRN: The texturing on the new Spydercos are something else! Don't get me wrong, I love G-10, but Spyderco FRN is at a whole another level compared to other companies.
Steel liners: This is missing from the Endura/Delica 3 and other distinguished knives.
4 way clip: Well, didn't need it on a waved knife, but I'll take it. The FRN scales are identical to all Enduras except for color.
Wave: If you haven't handled one yet, you really don't know what you are missing. The fastest opening method is now a regular on the Spyderco line-up. The quality of Spyderco, with the best feature of a $120 Emerson (minimum) for $50.
VG-10: One of my all-time favorite steels. Easy to sharpen. Retains an edge fairly well. Takes on a scary edge like a laser!

Enjoy the pics.

The clip looks great, I have a Waved D4 due to arrive tomorrow! What method did you use to get the clip looking that good if you dont mind me asking, I'd like to do something similar, actually I'd like to do that to several of my knives. Thanks!

Just take some Scotch Brite and remove the paint. Then take a Dremel with a sanding stone (not sure what it is called) and run it over the entire clip. The sander will bounce on the clip creating random horizontal lines.

Is there a slide-show, hand-drawing or video of just how this feature works? I understand the theory...but you know what they say about the worth of a picture. :p

What is cool is the paint didn't come out of the Spyderco logo. Now the logo is more visible! Came out really well.

That does look really good man, I might have to do it to mine:)

Check out the video demos on the Emerson website

Well, there's certainly no question that the feature works, LOL!:D
However, he deploys it so fast, it's tough for me to see the technique. Guess I'll just have to spring for one to find out.:p

The clip looks much better than the black. IMO. I'll be giving mine the treatment as well.

Not much technique to it, although it varies slightly in different pocket configurations. Basically it is a quick up and back motion. You can even do it in the front corner of a pocket by pushing up and forward. The Endura 4 Wave catches better than my Emerson too, probably because the actual Wave is deeper. Really easy to deploy.

Congrats on the waved Endura!! That is awesome!! I am glad that you are happy with it!! I do like the clip in black better. BUT, I am happy that you have the knife the way YOU like it!!

VictorLouis: If you want a vague idea of what having a wave would be like, put a zip tie around the top of the spyder hole on your favorite spyder. When you draw the knife, rotate it a bit so the exposed zip tie catches on the corner of your pocket. If you want to buy a waved knife, then this should help you practice.

Death's Head - Where did you order from? I'm planning on getting one soon, and I'd like to order from someplace with a good response time.

I just got mine for $68! -Just curious.

Thanks!

I got mine at AAPK Blades (excellent dealer) for $50 at the folllowing link:

Appears they're temporarily sold out. It came today and it's awsome. I have to practice with it though -- the wave feature works so well, deploying it on the draw isn't the problem -- it's NOT deploying it that's hard. I have to remember to hold it closed if I don't want it to open when I pull it from my pocket.
