Running a Kiln at home

Hello I am a new knife maker and I currently use a Knife Dogs/paragon kiln. I was working at a shop for a while but decided to move everything home to work more often. I was running it with a 4 prong locking plug at 50amps. Worked fine. My question is can I do a plug swap and safely run the kiln from the outlet used for my clothes dryer. Kiln only requires single phase 240v at 9amps. The outlet is rated for 250v up to 30amps. The question may be silly but I’d like to not burn down my house if at all possible. TIA!

Change the plug on the HT oven to the type that is for the dryer. It will work fine.

TIP:
Put the kiln on a metal HF cart. That way you can roll it where you want.
Tip 2:
Make an extension cord so you can roll it out in the driveway or out of the shop if that is possible. A kiln in a small space will make it really hot in there.

Thanks man! I figured as much but just wanted to make sure! I have the grinder on a mobile workbench and planned on getting one of them carts for the kiln. Appreciate the tips!

Beside the electrical stuff, quenching oils like Durixol (which I use) really stink up a house

You can often find adapter plugs to go from one 220V outlet type to another. I picked up one for my welder

Do you have a breaker box in the shop/garage? If so it is easy to add a dedicated breaker, assuming it's not already full. Then run cable out the bottom to a plug/outlet for you oven, or welder you may or may not own yet. This gives the option to put the outlet where you want it.
