After several e-mails with Michael Murphy of Running Dog Knife Company, I finally picked up my first knife from this company. I had chosen the "Wharncliff" as I find that this style of blade works best for the taskes I do on a daily basis. Working in a warehouse, there are plenty of boxes to open, plastic ties to cut,as well as shrink wrap to cut. I need a knife that I can use one-handed and replace in its sheath. This knife fits the bill.
The knife itself is as follows:
OAL: 7.75 inches
Blade Length: 3.50 inches (listed as
3.25 inches)
Thickness: 0.125 inches
Material: Moly coated 1084
Sheath: Concealex with multi position options.
Handle: Corded wrapped, in a diamond pattern.
I was very impressed to see the filework on the spine and also on the back side of the integral guard. The black cord is very tight and solid, giving a good feel to the hand. I am carrying the knife in a strong side horizontal carry, and find that I can reach down and draw the knife without having to fumble around, and also return the blade the same way.
For the price,(list $60.00 US) one can't go wrong with ordering one of these beauties.
