I just got my copy of Blade Magazine, feb2000 and read Dexter's article but there's no mention of BLADEFORUMS in there!!!

Whatsup? How can anyone not mention Bladeforums when talking about knives online?

I guess they are running scared of the forums now, congrats Mike and Spark!

I would assume bladeforums wasn't mentioned because the article is about internet knife dealers.

Refering to this issue, what do you think about "The World's #1 Tactical Folder Makers" article? Read Pat Crawford section. It was quoted there that because of the recessed liner, the KFF needed two hands to OPEN. "Crawford does that on purpose so that the knife will not OPEN accidentilly" ???

It made my already-low IQ decrease by another 10.

Dew.

Bladeforums wasn't mentioned because the article wasnt about forums, it was about dealers. Since Dex visits Bladeforums regularly, he would have mentioned it if it was appropriate.

The "congrats" implies that Blade Magazine may consider BladeForums to be a significant competitor. I don't think that's the case though.

Indeed.
But you know that knife news can be found here way before the knife rags' get it out. That's one of the reasons I love this place.

The article in the February issue centered around the best places to buy knives on-line on the net. Given the appropriate subject material, BFC (and other forums) will be discussed. I don't wanna wind up on Mike's bad side

An article about online knife forums would be an interesting one. Hope we see that in an upcoming issue of at least one knife mag.

Bob,

Sorry to say you will never see that article.

Shogun was close to the truth in practice although not per the article written by Dex.

The magazines do view us as a form of competition. We are being watched by TK, Blade and KI. TK actually told me directly that they view us a competition. I found this out when I offered them a forum. Blade Magazine on the other hands finds us more as an informational resource. In fact if I ever sold Blade Forums, it would only make since that I merge it with Blade Magazine.

Within the next year we will have more traffic than the readership of KI, Blade and TK combined. That means over 180,000 unique visitors per month! We now get 240,000 hits a day. We pass a gig every 3.8 days!

This site will grow to something beyond phenominal!

I talked to Marrilyn Farrow from Blade Magazine today, and to Joel Kertz from Blade yesterday. They seem to be very much aware of the impact of the internet on the knife industry. Starting in April they will have a listing of knife website on the internet. They have also done many articles regarding the internet, and have more in the works. Blade in my opinion is improving on a continual basis.
