There are a couple of kinds of knives that I've collected runs of different sizes... the Buck 300 family and the Buck 110 family. I gathered them up for a family photo. If you have photos of knife family reunions, post them!

In general I don’t feel a need to collect every variant of a particular knife model or brand, but I did make a conscious effort to acquire at least one example of all the Okapi models of a few years back.

There were actually black and silver bolstered versions of the tartan knives which I didn’t feel the need to get, though I could still if I wanted.

Now the company has been sold, and they are down to just three models in their catalog:

One of my favorites is the Buck 300 series knives. There was also a Muskrat, a Trapper, a Whittler, two sizes of Barlows, the Lancer and Clipper, and probably others I'm not thinking of. There were knives made by Schrade, Camillus, and Buck. The early knives had brass liners with attached bolsters, the newer ones had nickel silver liners with integral bolsters. Many of the 300 series knives had red, yellow, blue scales. Even purple. There were special runs with natural scale materials. Several different blade grinds.

It'll make you crazy.

When I got serious about collecting in the eighties I started with Buck. I figured I'd collect one of everything they built and move on. Forty odd years later I'm still finding interesting things now and then.

If it's got a thumb stud, liner lock or is a OHO, it doesn't belong here, even if it's a family member. Thanks....
Does OHO stand for one-hand opening?

I assume the ban only applies to thumb studs, flipper tabs, and “Spydie holes”, but you can flick open any lockback easily with one hand, and folks seem to be a little contentious around here lately… 🤣

Yes, one hand openers.
Lockbacks are fine. If you can flip one open, cool. I don't believe part of their design was to be OHO.
One armed jacks are OK too, they became prevalent after the Civil War.

The thumb stud is an add on by Kwik Thumb. It isn't stock on the knife. I put it on myself. That is a Buck 110 and Buck 112. They are allowed here. I have thumb bars on a couple of my Sheffield knives because they are hard to open. It doesn't make them non-traditional. I agree about people being too contentious about rules. They should chill out a little.

You can take them off if you want. It requires a special Allen wrench. I don't know where it is right now. I shot this picture for the Buck Facebook group. They liked it. It's a Buck 110 and 112, along with a 111, 500, 501. 503 and 505. Do you have any of these knives? I like them a lot. Please post a run if you have any in your collection.

Do you have any runs like this in sizes or colors? Or a run of patterns in the same style and handle? I'd like to see if you do. I invite you to participate.

There used to be a great thread in Technical, listing all the smart-asses that got banned for "mod-sass". Our mods have been here a long time, they are very much part of this forum. They do a thankless job, well, for no pay. So how about making things a bit easier for them, and giving them less s%£$ to deal with? The rules here have have always been the same.

Jack, I invite you to participate too. Perhaps you have a run you could post. Participate. If there was less contention, and more participation, things would be better. It's up to all of us to play together nicely. That is what the mods would like to see.

I have lots of runs, but I think you didn't start this thread off well, breaking the forum rules. If you keep on butting heads with the mods, it'll only end in one way. Maybe time to just accept the way things are here, it's a great place to play nicely :)

If the mods want me to, I'll go into photoshop and put a black dot there. But the problem here isn't the aftermarket thumb studs. It's the aggressive hall monitoring. I welcome your participation here. Show me your fun stuff. That's the reason we're all here.

I think they already asked, nicely. It's not the modding, it's YOU. Sorry, enough said, not my problem, thankfully

I'm not here to cause trouble. I'm here to talk about knives and share pictures from my collection. I've fixed it now. Please don't derail this thread for the people who are interested in sharing photos of their runs by jumping on your soapbox. If you insist on doing that, the problem isn't me, it's you. I'm not going to reply about rules here any more. Nothing more for me to say, except please post your runs. I'm interested in seeing your constructive contributions to this thread.

Knock off the sniping and one-upmanship. Follow the forum rules, the guidance of the forum moderators and honor the traditions of the forum.

If you can't do that, you'll be shown the door. A lot of folks put in a lot of time to make this place special.

Gary has already posted in the thread and that should have been enough. He and Frank can decide if it should be reopened.
