Oh My!!!!
You lucky Dawg.
That is gorgeous.
Would you mind telling us how much Mr Ruple
charges for something like that?
Lenny

Thanks guys....this one comes as close to THE knife for me as any I've ever owned. Bill's filework is without peer in my opinion and this one sports his newest variation on the vine and thorns pattern.

Lenny, I got lucky and found this piece with a design just like I would have ordered as a custom from Bill, in a purveyor's inventory. I probably paid more than if I'd gotten it straight from Bill Ruple....but then again....his wait times are getting longer. My cost was $675 plus shipping.

Great looking knife. Bill's knives are fantastic. In my estimation, a fileworked Ruple trapper is bound to become one of the all time classic custom knives. I know you're enjoying it.

Thanks Jim

I bought this one to be carried and used, tho' not as an EDC, due to its size. This one goes with me as a hunter and for any and all excursions into the wilds here in Colorado. It's a looker, but its real beauty is its utility and ruggedness. I do have a couple of "safe queens", but this is not one of them. Thanks again for your kind words. ;)

Mike, two more questions for you:

Will you carry in a pocket or sheath? Any concern about the ATS34 blades against the elements?

Ed

Hi Ed
Normal carry for me is my jeans back pocket or the pocket of my field coat. I'm not particularly partial to a belt sheath and tend to shun FB's for field work accordingly. I carry an ax for any heavy work. I've grown up with high carbon steel knives and tools and for me, the necessary "care and feeding" to avoid corrosion is SOP. Consequently, the corrosion RESISTANT properties of ATS34 are only "gravy" so to speak. Tools, knives most certainly included, DESERVE proper care during and after use. The very idea of "running her hard and putting her away wet" is repugnant to me. I really can't see why anyone should have corrosion problems with a reasonably cared for tool, whether or not it's constructed from carbon steel, ATS34 or some of the higher chrome content "stainless" steels. Cheers :D

Rev,
Just so you don't think you are alone!!EDC for me is either a 4" custom Barlow by Hoot Gibson or a 4"TRAPPER BARK MAST.IVORY SCALES,440C steel by Shogunne!Resides in my backpocket with my wallet!Gunting is also always with me!!
