Although I hadn't seen it mentioned on Reuters or Drudge, as supposedly they had run a version of the true story (per Rush), I just heard Rush Limbaugh say he plans to spend 5 days "in country" in Afghanistan next week. He said he'd wanted to do a Middle Eastern trip of this type for 1 1/2 to 2 yrs. and finally worked it out.
The trip will include 3 troop visits, one of which is scheduled to be a "townhall" type affair, as well as meetings with some of the high level government officials of the country.
Due to special preparations necessary for Rush to do a remote broadcast (having to do with his cochlear implant and the accompanying hearing loss) he'll be limited to doing phone-in reports during the shows next week.
He said he thought the reason the mainstream media hadn't reported much from the area recently was that things were going pretty well.....now he'll be able to see firsthand and report.
Should be interesting on several levels!
