 i have the opportunity to pick up a rusnok mini mill for 200 bucks. it is old but very sturdy. seems to be in good working condition. both foward and reverse. only problem is no tooling with it. nothing. i cant seem to find any on the web. do any of you machinests have any suggestions. from my end it looks like basic tooling is pretty expensive. any help ,thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe this will help if what you mean is collets and parts:

http://www.lathes.co.uk/rusnok/index.html

Blue Ridge Machinery lists 'em, too.

If what you mean is accessory tooling like vise, clamps, bits, etc, there are a million places that sell stuff like that. Start with LittleMachineShop.com folr good quality import stuff at fair pricing. MSC Industrial in Manhattan has a monthly specials catalog for endmills and such called "Metalworking". Accessories like this will cost substantially more than that mill.

Those little guys look really neat. Tooltime!

Fitz GOOD to see you helping us folks out again!
I have misssed your comments and sage advise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tom, thanks. I've become too ornery to be a regular anymore... :)

I didn't know how many people would know about Rusnok mills, so I shared what info I had.

thanks alot; that was a very useful link. so i figgure if the machine is in decent condition ,it is well worth the price, yes?

You're welcome.

A comparable new Sherline or Taig would cost in the range of $800 minimum. An import Chinese micromill will cost several hundred. I currently own a Taig and an Austrian-made EMCO Compact 5. I don't have space for a larger machine. They do what I need for small stuff; I just have to go slow (smaller bites) with harder material.

If I knew I could get a 3/8" collet for it for certain and it seemed pretty solid, I'd personally buy it in a minute for $200. But then, I like those older miniature American machine tools and my judgement is clouded by that fact. :D

Fitzo you were correct when you said "I didn't know how many people would know about Rusnok mills, so I shared what info I had". I have never heard of them before but they sure are nice looking little tools. They look to be well made and compared to the price on the site fitzo linked to @ $200 for the one you're looking at I don't think I could get there fast enough. The type 100 Collets are very common , can't say I have ever used or seen the type "Y" used on the model 70 though. They are still selling them so I imagine you can get tooling & parts for them.

thanks again for the input. this forum has always been a wonderful source of info. usally i just lurk, but sometimes i need to get specific. this is a fantastic source of information. i will secure the mill asap.
