Just got a real beauty, a Russ Easler stag drop point that was made in 2007. 7-1/2" long with a 3-1/2" blade.

Thanks guys! I am really liking this one so far. I bought it to replace the Bob Schultz drop point that BROKE on me. I slipped and dropped it onto my utility room floor and it snapped into two pieces leaving without any good fixed blades.

Woah! Not good, methinks. Probably good that it broke then, rather than while you were using it, because that might've caused some damage to you. Mr. Easler always made a great knife, IMO.

I've always felt that Russell (and his close friend Ron Gaston) made some of the cleanest, usable blades around. I've found them to be a good value, and one of the main reasons I believe a good custom knife is a much better value than production pieces.

Here's my stag handled RE hunter:

Russell always had time to talk knives and whatever at a show... whether you were buying or not.
I'm really glad I got this one when I did.

Sounds like Mr. Easler was a really friendly guy, good to deal with and an excellent knifemaker. Always good to hear, and I would very likely have enjoyed speaking to him.

Mr. Easler and his wife are the salt of the earth......none finer, IMHO......kinda like Danbo and his Mrs. :D
