Just found out today that knifemaker Russell Easler passed away last week.
Post pics if you have them.
RIP buddy

Dang, Bobby. That is some sad news!

Russell was a lot of fun to be around and a knife making machine.

Very sad indeed...... RIP Russell.

This, indeed, is sad news! Finally got to meet Russell, after admiring his knives, for years, at Timonium a couple of years ago. Since then, I have purchased two knives from him, a stag hunter and a mammoth ivory dagger that he finished from a Rod Gaston blade. Russell did nice work at reasonable prices. He will be missed. RIP.

Paul

So sorry to hear of Russell's passing. He was a good friend of Ron Gaston. Ron passed away a couple of years ago and also Russell's wife, Paula passed away sometime ago.
She made knives for awhile.

I'm very sorry to hear this. I always liked his knives and enjoyed seeing him at the NY Show.

RIP Russell

He was among the first custom maker that I bought knives from. He was always friendly and gracious when I talked to him. It had only been last March at the NY show that I saw and spoke to him. He seemed fine physically but he did say he missed his wife very much. I'll miss him.

Sorry to hear this. I was not aware that Paula had died. He and Ron were long time friends and when Ron became ill and subsequently, Russell finished some knives of RG's.

I was an admirerer of Russ's work, super knives for the price. I'm very sorry to hear that we have lost such a good Maker. The void he leaves will be felt by many.

I currently have one of his knives listed for sale. His niece emailed me tonight and advised me of his passing. I'm actually selling the knife on consignment and it was the first example of his work that I had seen in person. I was very impressed with his attention to detail and the overall design, look, and especially the feel of the knife. Though I never met him, he certainly built a mighty fine knife.

Yup. My first custom too.
Always a pleasure to stop at his table and talk.
He will be missed.

In the mid 90's Russell Easler would go to the NYC show with dozens of knives and sell every one and take orders on Sunday!
