Russian car spring knife

I thought it was very solid work... however, if you watch at this time - 8:27 - you notice after etching that there appear to be delams & voids where the spring was forced together :(

Thank you VERY MUCH for posting that! Just seeing the tools and machines these guys used was interesting and the skill of that guy on the belt sander doing the profiling freehand was just incredible. Do you have any idea how much they would sell a knife like this for? I'm only asking because I am interested in how much they think all of that labor is worth. It's nice to see true craftsman at work.

Is that the normal way to do it? All that forging into the billet, then it’s just a stock removal knife.

I want a knife forged into shape, other wise it’s just like any other stock removal blade.

Same thing I thought about the voids. I've seen springs straightened, cut into equal length pieces and forge welded but not just beat into a big bar.--KV
