Another russian beauty - Cadet, RosArms, Zlatoust.

This one is small 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/8". Looks like smaller version of Fox-2. Same birch bark handle, mikarta guard and butt, 110X18MSHD steel.

Thanks, Vassili.

That has to be one of the nicest users i've seen. I bet the birch bark handle is very nice to hold in cold weather.

IMHO it is very nice to hold in any weather - it is light, warm and durable. Even it look like cork it is much stronger. But of course it is kind of tuned to cold - bark birch handle, non metalic guard and butt (Mikarta), etc. Also small but nice touch - sheath belt with button which hold knife, wraped around handle is bit longer then usual - about 1" after button, so it is much easy to unlock even you have thick gloves on you hand.

Thanks, Vassili.

Excellent! I like the look of that knife. Nice curves and grinds. Bet it's real comfortable to hold and use.

Really great photos. I just started taking pics of my knives recently so I know what you mean about how much fun it is. Thanks for sharing and looking forward to seeing more.

That is one of the most beautiful knives I've ever seen! Such a great design, and so well finished. Wow!

All the curves are graceful and balanced, like a shapely woman. The blade shape and grinds give it a look of strength and effectiveness. The guard and pommel look like caramel candy, and their colour goes perfectly with the colour of the birchbark handle. The handle colour is cheerfully bright, like the morning sun. I would buy it, if it was for sale, and if I could afford it!

Excellent photography, as well....as in the rest of your website!

Thank you for sharing this, Vassili!

It is for sale and it is quite affordable. Call RosArmsUSA as I did and I am sure it will not be a problem.

Also they will be on ShotShow in LasVegas.

They will be there as well as other knife company from Russian Federation - Kizlyar from Dagestan. It is par of Russia but not Russia they are muslim - different culture different traditions different people. I am looking forward to get one of their knives also when they will be available with wide choise. One like this:

This is not Russian but more Caucasus tradition and beautifull as well. But this is different topic.

Thanks, Vassili.

Well, yesterday, I finally broke down and bought one of these Russian knives. They were set up at the St. Louis knife show and had a whole table full of nice stuff. Mine is a fighter, with a brass guard and full tang handle and brown micarta. I'll try and take a decent pic later and post it. The price was certainly right, and the knife is pretty nice.

Thanks - this is a lovely knife. I'm a big fan of micarta for fittings on users.

I'll make some pictures and post them tommorow.
On my experience they have two types of sheath - brown and black leather. Brown leather thick, black is bit thiner - I like brown better. For Cadet I have nice brown sheath.

Thanks, Vassili.

Vassili, what are the sheaths like for these knives? On the website they don't look very good.

The sheaths of these knives are nothing to write home to Mom about. Mine doesn't even look like it was designed for my knife. It fits it, yes, but not like it was made for the knife. It's pretty thin leather also. But, I didn't buy the knife for the sheath, so It bothers me not.

Yes two of my sheat made of thin leather, but three others has really thick brown leather, you may see it on the pictures.

Thanks, Vassili.

Thanks a lot, Vassili. I am quite new to this forum, and I did not know this brand of knife. Because it looks so good, and it was a name I had not heard of, I assumed that it was a custom-made knife, and out of my price range.

These are very reasonably priced knives!

By the way, you take very good photos, Vassili. Do you use a light box?

Thanks!

This brand is well known and respected in Russia - it is working knives for hunters, outdoorsmen and military - I have review from guy who fight terrorists and RosArms "Cliff" save his life once. I was very impressed myself by them just because I expected really poor quality as usual for USSR, but this knives is different! For me it is, not only very good knives, but sign that in Russia things come back to normal as it was before communists, as it was handred years ago. Also it is evidence that poor quality well known for "made in USSR" (at least for domestic market) is not "Russian nature" (very popular idea in some neighbours countries) but distortion caused by crazy communist ideas of economy, under which people has no desire to work. Quality of this knives are quite hi and they made by Russian, deep in Russia in small city! This is why I am so excited about this knives...

Price is very affordable, this is why I was able o buy many of them (may be too many, but it is really hard to resist).

If you check "Cheap Shots" and "Lights and background" you'll see I don't use lightbox, but at least 3 sources of light (cheap Ikea "folding" lamps with good 120 GE Bulbs) and screens (foam sheets from Office Depot). Lightbox gives even shadowless light all around - and photoes passport like, but sometimes it is actually good to have shadow or uneven light.

Thanks, Vassili.

Thanks for that direction, Vassili. Photography ("painting with light") is tricky. Part technology, and part art, I think.
