how good are they? historically russia is the country with deep routs in knife production.

The only current Russian knives I know of are Shirogorovs and Kizlyar. Both seem high quality, particularly the Shirogorovs.

Shirogorov's are some of the best knives on the market. The 95 and the Hati are a perfect carry knife. The quality is second to none.

Please let's not bundle all of mother Russia's knives in one big bundle ALA our usual stereotyping. Like all else they're the good, the bad and the ugly. My two cents...

I have two from RosArms. Haven't used them, but they appear to be well-built and are quite attractive. I think my models are the "Picnic" and the "Companion II."

probably like any other country in Europe, Asia or America. Unfortunately for Russians during USSR time Communist government destroyed everything except defense. So any knifemakers (as well as many people in other areas) in Russia had to start from zero, teach themselves, deal with disastrous material supply and many other things, we cannot think of. Big Kudo to any of them, who was able to reach professional level and provide their customers with the product equal to international standards.

Trying to get a knife serviced from the maker in Russia = nightmare won't ever own one

The RosArms knife distributor and primary dealer is in Chicago, Illinois. Given their reputation for good customer service, I'm confident they can take care of any service or warranty needs.

There are few knife makers in Russia that are of world level! Everyone knows Shirogorov....But there are several other names that should be mentioned: Kukin - makes folders - price range from 2000 to 18000. Wait list till 2018. Unbelievable. Cheburkov - well, makes pretty good EDC and Fixed blades, Urakov - very durable Fixed blades and he is the only one who makes folders- that durable as much as fixed blades. He invented his own locking system. You can chop woods with his folder.

here is what I sell http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...Extreme-Fixed-Blade-for-sale?highlight=Urakov

BTW RosARM are production knives. Not custom made.
