Does anyone know anything about the Russian spetsnatz knife that was around a few years ago? It was an auto knife that actually launched the blade as a projectile.

I saw one at a gun show last year. Every one I've seen didn't have a spring in it.

Hey ditchdog!

Check 'dis out: http://users.nac.net/fireprez/ballistic/

Hope that helped, do a search on the auto knife forum, this knife has been discussed there several times.
Please note that this knife is illegal under NFA rules

The Ballistic knife is cool indeed. Once made by the Florida Knife Corp. They are concidered illegal as 2sharp states. I have seen one in action and yes they work. It launched the blade about 15' across the room before hitting the deck. Sticking right in.

I forget what car or motorcycle spring was being once advertised as fitting them as a replacement spring.

I have a perfect example complete w/ spring. Got it a few years ago at the New York show as I recall.

Neat, but a real bear to re-compress the spring!! I shot it at a piece of 5 layer cardboard and it penetrated all the way through to a 3/4" plywood backing board and stuck!! First (and last) time I used it. It is wicked !!! No damage (see images) and in great condition.

Anyone interestd in it?!?!

Two guys at the blade show had one of the florida balistic knives on their table! They wanted $200.00 bucks for it. I made sure i didnt touch the damn thing! Going to jail aint my cup of tea. These guys said they didnt have the spring in the knife. But if the ATF had come around, the whole blade show could have been closed up! Dont believe me? OK
