Hello all,

I bought a Russlock a year or so ago and I just never quite warmed up to it. It came a little looser in the pivot than I like and the blade is a bit shorter than I like as well. That said, I could live with all that, but that darn liner-lock is a deal breaker. It looks ugly as sin and feels worse. So, has anyone ever ground down the hump to where its just short of even with the frame. I am thinking about trying this out and wanted to gauge the feasibility.

What say you?

The more you grind off, the less you have to release the lock. That said, the backspring holds the blade open, so the liner lock can be cut completely off without affecting the functionality of the knife.

Yeah, I figured it would make it a bit more difficult to close, but I don’t need that much poking out. I think I will give it a shot and report back. It doesn’t do any good sitting in a drawer anyway.

I’ve seen pics of it. I’ve thought about picking one up and doing it myself. My plan would be to leave about twice as much on there as I think I want, testing it in hand for a couple days then removing more if I still want.
