rust inhibitor

I bought a DB back in march... its been used pretty heavily and is starting to show wear. The first issue (not a huge deal) is that the tiger stripe is slowly scratching off from the Kydex sheath. Can this be re-applied? Second, I noticed some rust peeking out from under the paracord and starting to form spots on my blade.. Is there anything I can apply to the blade to inhibit rust? Its been exposed to alot of saltwater sweat and blood so its definatly my fault not Striders...

On the contrary to all of this, my WB (purchased same day) looks as good as ever!

Thankx
Rob

under the paracord should be fine, its treated with stuff to stop it from rusting, if it is rusting though, send it back to strider to get it re coated with the inhibitor.

the tiger stripes cant be reapplied, theyre whats left over from heat treating, although you could get a boron carbide coating done on the blade with a tiger stripe finish (Like Rob Simonich does)

as far as the rest of the blade rusting, theyres not much you can do to keep bead blasted ats-34 from rusting in salt water, normal lubes should provide some protection (tuffglide, miltec, break free) but the stuff still can rust, the good thing about it though is that it can be cleaned off with a scouring pad and water very easily.

can you tell how far under the cord the rust is? if its bad i would send it to strider to have refinished. light rust just go at it with some wonder lube and drive on. i would definately try to stop the pitting from growing under the handle.
