rust, kraton and 4116 krupp steel

Lately I've noticed some rust on the blade of my CS Kobun, at the point where the blade inserts into the kraton handle. it's only visible when I tug at the handle, and I can see the rust forming underneath the kraton. what's a kraton-safe method of controlling the rust? It's a cheap knife but I don't want to have it go to waste just because it rusted on that one spot.

Kinda makes you wonder about this 4116 krupp steel hehe
