anyone else have problems of rust on their H1?
Carried my dragonfly h1 in my back pocket of my swimsuit for 2 snorkeling sessions(about 1hr each). I would soak it for at least a half an hour in the sink afterwards.
I notice rust on the 1 of the H1. Interestingly I saw someone post the same problem in their amazon review of the knife. I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s definitely not confident inspiring.

I have seen some rust on the logo before, that is not the h1 steel rusting though. Logo has some other steel residue from the stamping process I believe.

I shouldnt have said stamped, engraved is more accurate. The bit leaves behind trace amount of iron that can oxidize. It only occurs on the logo. There was a discussion about this on the Spyderco website forum in the past.

RC15 is correct. The H1 blades I have that have seen salt water have done the same. My oldest Pacific Salt actually has an emblem that is fading. After that initial “rusting” you shouldn’t see much more. I’ve only ever seen this on the 1 of the emblem. No need to worry about it.

That happened to my pacific salt. I kayak , swim, and fish on the gulf coast and never even rinse my knife off. No corrosion whatsoever, other than the initial bit on the logo. H1 is a good, specialize steel when corrosion is of concern.
