Rust on my Trident

I got a SOG Trident with the tiger stripe blade last friday. I carried it for two days and on the third day I noticed very small rust spots on the blade towards the top by the SOG logo.
I put some gun oil and got most of the rust spots off but there still a little I can't get off.

So what else can I use to get the rust off with out removing the tiger strip finish? I have some Fritz polish but I don't want to remove the Tiger stripe.

Oh yea I live in Calif and not near the beach, I've never had a problem with knives rusting should I be concerned?

I dont know if it will affect the finish but what about WD40? that a Qtip and some small circles always worked on my bead blasted M16 rust magnet

I see no reason for you to be concerned.I have certain knives that start to rust much more easliy than others in similar alloys. It doesn't mean your knife is defective or of bad quality.

I remember the tigerstripes feeling rather porous and tHat might contribute to your rust, similar to Kershaws bead blast, that rusts easily for me.

If it were mine I might try a little Flitz rubbed lighty on the rust and see where that gets you. I don't think it will take the stripes off unless you rub one spot too long. After that apply a light film of oil of some kind to the blade every so often and you should be fine.

If it is a user then I wouldn't worry too much, it isn't going to rust away on and you and it won't be pretty forever anyway.

Thanks for the response guys!! I called and talked to a rep at SOG and he also recommended WD40, I ended up using some Hoppe's #9 and it cleaned it up. I also oiled it up so it should be okay, i'll keep my eye on it though.

BJE I have Fritz but was scared to use it.
