My XC DMT fro the edge pro has a few spots of rust, should I be concerned? If it's a bad thing what should I do?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Its not a big deal but make sure to clean with bar keepers friend to remove it. If you leave it it could eat at the plated surface.
Its common and will happen more often when used with water. The rust is actually the removed bits of metal stuck in the stone and not the stone itself.
Its something I've actually watched happen during sharpening, effects will be greater with carbon steels
Breakfree is recommended by another member but I've never used it.
BKF can be ordered online too. I prefer it because it has a type of acid in it that reacts with the metal swarf and rust.
You could also try comet or similar cleaning products. WD40 I'm not sure of but you can try.
what he said, it's blade particle not the stone.
i would just be extra carefull with WD40 if you use your XC for waterstone flattening, any kind of oil can completely ruin most waterstones. even oil residue on the blade when switching from your XC to a waterstone can be harmfull.
One thing you all should be aware of, is that Bar Keepers Friend contains oxalic acid which EATS metal! Do not use it on DMT equipment! Follow the directions for your DMT equipment.
BKF is great for cleaning ceramics Because the acid attacks the metal. You don't usually need to scrub the ceramic. Just put the BKF on there for 30 seconds to a minute and wipe it off. It's obvious that a chemical reaction has occurred, and it isn't one favorable to the metal holding the diamonds on the DMT plates.
Where is the rust, I have a couple of diasharps where the rust is not from swarf. One is rusting lightly on the edge & bottom, other has a corner with almost no diamond and is freckling there. I would send them in, but they still work.
