:( I have been storing my new #7 in the gun safe that has a heating element and today I found a line of rust on one side of the blade about one inch long.
It is made up of small dots. How can I safely get it off?

I use a small piece of bronze wool (not steel wool as will scratch) and Semichrome polish. If that does not do the job I send the knife to Randall for refurbishing. Any effort by you, that scratches the blade, will devalue your knife on the collector market.

Wes,
You might also try putting two cans of desiccant (the kind that change color when they need recharging in an oven) in your safe to attract moisture. When the stuff in the can changes color, you put the can in the oven at two hundred degrees until the dried out color comes back and the moisture is driven off. You can keep reusing the stuff forever. Try www.grafs.com or www.midwayusa.com. I'm lucky, I live in Nevada where the humidity is so low I don't even need a dehumidifier in my safe.
